Dundee United came from behind to draw one-all with St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park. Josh Fowler put Saints ahead in the twenty-first minute. Lyall Cameron levelled eleven minutes from time, turning Jesse Randall’s cut-back into the top corner. The point keeps United sixth, level with fifth-placed St Johnstone on twelve points.

United began brightly and sent several dangerous deliveries across the St Johnstone goal without finding a finishing touch. Fowler then punished an avoidable defensive sequence to give the home side the lead. United increased the speed of their play after the break. Cameron forced a save before scoring, while Zidane Iqbal, Zac Sapsford and Neil Farrugia all had late opportunities as United pushed for a winner. The Courier reports that St Johnstone boss Simo Valakari says Josh Fowler came off at half-time through illness, not injury.

Jim Goodwin believes United were the better team over the full match. He was disappointed by the goal conceded, saying the defence failed to track the initial overlapping run and then moved into positions it did not need to take. Goodwin praised the second-half reaction and felt United dominated that period. His main frustration was the lack of calmness, composure and better decisions in the final third.

Cameron also described the afternoon as frustrating despite rescuing a point. He said United created enough opportunities to win and felt they did not score early enough to build momentum. The midfielder explained that he has been working on arriving near the edge of the area for cut-backs, which produced the equaliser. He then had another late chance saved as United searched for all three points.

Next up, Aberdeen visit Tannadice at three o’clock on Saturday. The Dons recovered from last weekend’s home defeat by St Johnstone to beat St Mirren three-one at Pittodrie yesterday. Aberdeen are seventh in the table on eleven points, one behind United.

In the Women’s game, Dundee United are away to Hamilton in SWPL Two today. Kick-off at New Douglas Park is at half past two.

Loan Watch. Sky Sports’ live report says Ruairidh Adams was forced off injured before half-time as Airdrieonians lost two-one at home to Hamilton. No diagnosis has been confirmed.
