Dylan Tait has been named the Premiership player of the month for October. The midfielder helped United beat Hibernian and Aberdeen, with draws at St Johnstone and Celtic also extending the unbeaten run. His standout afternoon came against Aberdeen, when he scored and helped create the other two goals in a three-two win. The award underlines how quickly he has become central to Jim Goodwin's midfield since joining from Falkirk in the summer.

United host Motherwell at three o'clock today, and Mehdi Merghem is back in the squad after a knee injury kept him out since early September. He supplied two assists in his first five league appearances. Goodwin says Merghem gives United a different option on the flank because he can cut inside to shoot or go outside to deliver. Neil Farrugia misses out with the groin problem he suffered at Celtic Park. Goodwin expects an entertaining game between two technical sides. He felt Motherwell could have scored more in last weekend's win over St Mirren, but believes United have the midfield quality and attacking threat to take control.

In the academy, United's under-nineteens beat Kilmarnock four-two at Foundation Park on Tuesday. Scott Hamilton scored a hat-trick, with Nairn Reynolds adding the other goal late on.

For supporters heading to Tannadice, selected home turnstiles open at quarter to two for controlled alcohol sales in the home concourses. The bars close at half past two. Sales are for over-eighteens, and drinks must remain in the concourse areas.
